Le Phosphor Piquenique - 4 page comic
May 5th, 2008Here is another little story I recently finished for a little group effort we’re putting together for the upcoming Comic Salon in Erlangen, Germany. The story will be available in a little booklet in the size of 15 cm by 15 cm (6″ x 6″). I will be at the Comic Salon as well for the first three days and if you’d like your copy signed just hit me up. Of course you can order it directly here as well as soon as it is available.
I hope the story is understandable even for non-German readers but just in case, here is a translation for the second page. Panel 1: “Your roast is delicious, Marie.” Panel 2: “Thanks marc, your wine is delicious as well.” Panel 3: “And Nina, what did you bring along?” Panel 6: “Me.”
Custom Kaiju - Blobpus and Blobpi
April 24th, 2008I bought this pair of Blobpus and Blobpi at Charactics in Osaka, Japan but never really enjoyed its color scheme so I decided to give it some of my own magic. This one has a base coat of pearlescent green acryl on which I put some high glossy acryl and let it drip all over. While the paint was still wet I partially covered it with neon pink spray paint which resulted in cracks of the latter since it dries a lot faster. The eyes are a mixture of orange and gold acryl with a glossy clear coat mixed with gold as well.
Random Sketches Made In Bars In Lucerne
April 24th, 2008It’s been a while since my last update. One of the reasons has been a little vacation I enjoyed while visiting this years Fumetto International Comix Festival in Lucerne, Switzerland. It has been very inspirational and I got to know great people such as Tom Gauld, Ben Katchor and Matthew Thurber. Fun. Here are two sketches I made while sitting in the official Fumetto Bar…
プランター Planter - Artwork For Heavy Hitterz: Manila
March 28th, 2008Here is my contribution to the Heavy Hitterz: Manila show. I basically went with the same theme as in the last paintings I did for the show in San Francisco but now it is all glorious technicolor. Again a happy kaiju monster that takes a particular interest in planting things into an urban landscape. This time “happy beans” are being planted. The buildings are actually in Kyoto, Japan albeit with some little changes. The type, a new addition as well, reads プランター or “planter”. It is supposed to be as artificial and multicultural as the monsters: Japanese and Western.
The painting is 14″ by 11″ and painted with acrylics on construction cardboard. It took me a bit longer to get it finished but I am happy with the result. Look out for more paintings in the future. I am also planning to make small limited edition print runs of these paintings. So stay tuned.
This time the show is sponsored by the company with the fancy shoes: Royal Elastics, IMEEM, Scion, Lost at E Minor, Distinction Gallery and Fabric8. On April 4th there will be a Launch Party for HH:Manila at Club 6 in San Francisco, dubbed “HOW WE DO”. There will be Art displayed and some of the best local underground MCs and DJ’s are performing. You can keep updated on things leading up to the show and during at our custom IMEEM page, there will be 4 artists that will be traveling to the Philippines for the openin. We will be posting blogs, photos, and video and a lot of other goodness - whatever that means. LINK
Last but not least there will be a new microsite that is launching soon, that will have the artwork posted and for sale. LINK
