It Came From SkullBrain II at Super7 (1/16/2010)

Sorry for the late notification ( I am super busy at the moment) but the Blobpus custom I made a few months ago was exhibited at Super7 in the “It Came From Skullbrain II” show and I am very happy to hear that it has been sold as well. The beautiful photo was made by toy photographer extraordinaire zincsaucier. Be sure to check is flickr stream for more pictures of the show and other beautiful toy impressiveness.

Another Custom Karl Diesel

Karl Diesel - custom december 09

In the stress of getting last minute christmas gifts done I did not get around posting this custom paint job I realized for a collector. It is still basically the same color scheme like the one featured in the first edition but I dare say that with increased practise it has gotten a lot smoother and better. At the moment I am very fond of two tone color sprays applied at a very low angle so that it looks like the toy is lit by (in this case) a red light source from one side.

Happy New Year 2010

Happy New Year 2010

I do not know about you but I have indeed been working like an ox in 2009 and if the Chinese zodiac is really such a good indicator of what we need to do then 2010 will be a year that needs courage and experiments and the will to follow ones own path. With that being said I wish everyone the best for 2010. May you find luck, happiness, health and everything else that you wish for. Stay true to the path of the tiger.

Corn of Consumption: Test Subject #001 WIP 03

Corn of Consumption: Test Subject #001 WIP 03

Here is a first result of my latest casting attempts. Not really beautiful and I have sharpened this photo a lot to find many of the imperfections that are hard to see. The surface is also rather interestingly textured and I have yet to determine if this is due to the casting material or a result of the imperfections (read bubbles) in the mold. I bet it is the latter but I am not sure.

Wow, lots of tiny bubbles in this mold and transparent silicone really shows you every single one of them in perfect detail. I will see the results and possible imperfections once I get around to casting it. Depending on the results I may have to degas the silicone of future molds.
