Here is another little story I recently finished for a little group effort we’re putting together for the upcoming Comic Salon in Erlangen, Germany. The story will be available in a little booklet in the size of 15 cm by 15 cm (6″ x 6″). I will be at the Comic Salon as well for the first three days and if you’d like your copy signed just hit me up. Of course you can order it directly here as well as soon as it is available.

I hope the story is understandable even for non-German readers but just in case, here is a translation for the second page. Panel 1: “Your roast is delicious, Marie.” Panel 2: “Thanks marc, your wine is delicious as well.” Panel 3: “And Nina, what did you bring along?” Panel 6: “Me.”

A few weeks ago I bought one of those silly sexist manga capsule toys that you get about every corner out of a vending machine. I knew it would be fun to customize and not only because of the female shape. He. It’s a nice change to the never ending flood of round and simple western vinyl toys. I thought I’d also go into a different direction as the sculpt suggests and do something that an asian might not do.

Finally I found some time to scan a few of my most recent sketchbook pages. As you can see I am still enjoying using tea bags and coffee as inspiration for these weird creatures. This also marks the milestone of having filled another book. Now I have to find a new one. I plan to get something bigger this time around.

I enjoyed doing this one quite a lot. I got picky with the lines again so it took a little while. I have the impression I should do a series of these on canvas (or maybe skatedecks?) and a bit bigger, of course. Maybe even make some turnarounds and pitch it to a toy company. I guess I just fell in love with a sketch.

Oh, before I forget it. My good friend Markus Färber (check his art – it’s awesome) wanted to know the size of my sketchbook: 13,5 cm x 20,5 cm (ca. 5″ x 8″).

Justice And Justitia

There is going to be a group show with a lot of participants of my illustration class and since it is going to be in the entrance area of one of the local courts one requirement for the show is to make a picture of Lady Justitia herself. Of course most version are probably nowhere near the classic idea of her and surprisingly my idea and thinking was quite similar to that of my friend Alex. My line of thinking though being more along the bloated, ugly and perverted. Here is a page of doodles I did yesterday during work. Might be considered NSFW for some.

Ah, isn’t inspiration a lovely thing? I saw this awesome photo by COOP a few weeks ago and have been wanting to make a little sketch of it ever since. The pose is great but what really does the trick are these stockings and skate shoes. I can only nod in agreement to this: “I have a thing about girls wearing rollerskates.” NSFW!
