Custom Vintage Toy Car for “Nostalgic Notions”

I admit, I’m a lazy bum. Just reposting the images and text that lots of you will probably have read already elsewhere. Anyways, just wanted to add that.

So, I guess I’m honored and proud to present a custom vintage car designed for the recent “Secret T-Shirt Party II – Nostalgic Notions” by owlmovement.com.

Here is: “The Motion of the Owl vs. Not Working” enamel paint on vintage toy car.

My original idea was to produce a reminder for the horrible disaster of Chernobyl back in 1986 because the car somehow brought back memories of how I was forbidden to play in the sand with all my toys due to the nuclear fallout rain. Unfortunately the idea (or muse?) turned its back on me and I had to go a different route.

Still a bit of the original inspiration remains in the text depicted on the sides as well as the “Russian” coat of arms on the front. The text on the right reads “owlmovement” while the text on the left reads “idle”. Ok, possibly not quite because I used one of the simple internet translation.

Lost And Found

Yeah, I must admit, I thought I had lost it. My mojo I mean. Inspiration. Muse, whatever. I hate it. Life seems slow and sticky like molasses without it. Wherever it went, it came back from vacation to me during the cause of the day. It’s not much and actually just a tin stupid grampa doodle but what the heck. Click the enlarged thumbnail to see a smaller version.

Grampa

Oh, and I plucked a lonely sketch from my archive and started coloring it in painter. Here is a WIP snap.

And if you haven’t heard of it, have a look what Banksy has done just recently. Here is a video at Wooster Collective. Link

Naked In Painter

A colored doodle from one of my sketchbooks. Trying to understand Painter a bit more.

Wasted Time

Did the wrong thing today and went to a party sponsored by the company I work for. I was bored to death among all those plastics. Still, I didn’t have to courage to out myself as art nerd with a obsession for doodles and sketches. What a waste of time.

So, here are a few doodles I’ve been doing during breaks, intermissions and idle minutes. I just recently got myself an USB flashdrive and I plan to do a custom case mod. A bit like the flashdrives by mimoco. Currently I see two directions this could be heading. Either it will be more unique, with more personality. The other way would be less unique and instead go a rather “platform” design route. Both are tempting. Anyways, here are some quick digicam grabs of the doodles.
