Coffee Blotches

Oh well, not much today either. I had some wee bits espresso left after emptying the cup and just took a brush and used it to create some blotches in my sketchbook. Later I blocked in some graphite to see if I could make some more sense of the shapes but really, I’m not all too satisfied. Judge fer yerselves.

Oh yeah, some more tinkering. I finally made the images as wide as the text which is a lot more pleasant to look at. Ok, not all, just the new ones. I will do that later but I’m not quite fond of doing it. It’s a bit of wasted time just to make the archives look good. And then again…

No, scratch that. I don’t like it. Hehehe.

Apropos looks, I’ve been informed that this site seems to look kinda messy in IE (not knowing which version) on Windoze. According to my statics about a third of the people who browse my blog are using IE. Since I don’t have the possibility of crosschecking it would be nice if some CSS-savy person could help me with a fix. It would be nice if everything worked but if it doesn’t, don’t expect me to fix it. It is way down on my priority list apart from IE not being worth it.

Cascading Style Flexing

If you visited this site a few hours ago you might have seen me tinkering with the CSS some more. Specifically trying to implement a few graphics. I took me longer than I thought. First because I didn’t really know what I was doing, second because it took me quite some time to realize that online editing didn’t work as it was supposed to and last but not least because I was looking up reference pictures for some projects.

I also made two more mastheads in different logotypes. I won’t post them here because you either have already seen them or will in the near future if the random image script is nice to you. Currently there are four different pictures in rotation and the fifth is in production.

For today, that’s all folks and I leave you with some more wondrous creations of the Japanese culture. Sushi and pixelated handlight animation.

Doodle Tuesday

A few months ago we, my fellow students and me, met every tuesday for doodling, sketching and creating silly sequential stories. Sadly somehow we stopped doing so and it has taken us quite an effort to meet again. Today we finally got around, though only Aisha, Nadine and me to create those aforementioned scribbles. Actually we didn’t really do much except drinking beer and talk about the days back when we were still in school. Here is a bit of edited idle drunk numbness.

On a different side note, you might have noticed my tinkering with the CSS of the blog. There is more to come, this is not the end. I promise. I can’t say how long it takes me to keep this but,… oh well, you’ll see.

And to add to the senseless strangeness of this world, I’ve been wondering, once more, what kind of society it is in Japan, that has so much fun in public humiliation (even if relatively harmless). Link via Neatorama.

Oh, and if you’ve still got the impression that I’m drunk because the strange grammar is all weird in this post, then you’re darn right.

Kurt Strikes

Again? A friend turned 28 today (sunday, that is) and since I still needed a little gift for her I created another silly image of Kurt.

I had some fun during work. As always I became pretty tired at first (the air is always pretty warm and lacking oxygen) but then, after adjusting, some small ideas visited me. Kurt was the late again but the good thing is he does have some impressing moves in stock that never cease to excite me. Now, whilst typing it occurs to me that I actually had planned to do some frame or other thing to use as decoration for this blog. Oh well,…

Now, some interesting links. One is a very good animator that I came across whilst reading the “House Of Cool” blog. The one I’m talking about is Pascal Campion. While his client work did not impress me, his sketchy “boss animations” really did. Even without sound they scream out loud how much he (Pascal) loves animation. Works like this make me want to shift my focus more towards animation. Inspiring.

Secondly, I’d like to recommend paying Dave Chung a visit. I’ve been a fan of his work ever since, but his newest works are quite a progression. I like how much he’s sharpening the message (and/or story) of his pictures to a point where I first think: “Eww, gross. But wait… that’s quite funky. Hahaha”. Twisted.
