More Hands

Singular. Today, after having some more apartment-moving-shit I sat down to down the last little bit of pimping of the lightbox image viewer. No more boring loading animation copied from Apple but instead my own hand. You can appreciate it as soon as you click on the image that shows the five different frames.
And since I haven’t done much else today, why don’t you indulge in the very same and have a look at another assortment of good links. A comprehensive article of charging by the hour vs. charging for the project by Ellen Rohr. Then check out a crazy mashup of The Simpsons vs. Star Trek. And last but not least take a look at the effects of a little panda sneezing. KAWAI.

Yeah well, that’s one of those typical titles when you don’t know what to write. I’ve been meaning to post a few things but somehow good ol’ RealLife™ got up it’s habit pf getting in the way. I had to move out of my apartment into a new one. That alone was like a bug in windoze. You know it’s there and it will consume some of your precious time but once you meet it… It’s worse than you thought. Ok, I won’t indulge myself anymore with silly analogies.
Following are a few pictures that you might enjoy seeing. First a custom Hot Wheels™ car with a bit of customization. Then I made a few preliminary doodles for the custom toy car I’ve been working on the last few days. It’s actually done by now but you’ll have to wait a bit until mid September. So longa then you’re gonna have to live with my teasing.
Last but not least a few interesting links. Two are funny, one is rather insightful.
First: Indexed – a funny blog that puts things in perspective and relation.
Second: Have you ever felt disgust whilst looking at those dirty birds lurking everywhere. Well, here is a suggestion.
Third: It seems, there is not much out there on the theories of image composition or at least its hard to come by. Anyways, here is a short and comprehensive article featured at CG-Society written by Philip Straub

Today, well… yesterday… I ate at the local Pizzaria again. I had hoped that I wouldn’t take all too long as they’re usually pretty fast. But, as you might have guessed already, it was quite a busy day over there and thus dinner took longer than expected. In the end it must’ve probably been something like two hours (with my food arriving after one hour!). I was wise enough to take my sketchbook with me and did a few doodles. I admit for one hour of doodles this is not much but being the control freak that I am it took me that long. Here is Kurt again, flexing his muscles and I don’t know what but beware, NSFW!
The following sketches (except for the little termite-vexed soldier by Alex) were done early on sunday morning as a kind of warm-up exercise. I made the mistake of using too much color and too much water on the first one. The second one turned out better…
And, as you might have already seen, I have installed Lightbox2 as a spiffy new way to display my images. It still needs a bit of tinkering (e.g. changing the graphics) but hopefully will add a bit to the functionality and beauty to this site.
*ywna* err… *yawn* Can’t even type correctly anymore. Need sleep. Damn it, already 05:21 again.
[edit] Btw, did you really think I went to bed and tried to sleep? Well, I did and had to realize that I couldn’t. So, whilst surfing a bit more, here is a link that I found on Neatorama. The Super Mario Brothers Theme played on an 11 stringed bass. [/edit]
I have such a hard time thinking about a meaningful title that I’m going to leave it with “untitled” which is probably the most uninspiring thing I could have possible come up with. That wasn’t the only problem today. Again I had to swallow the consequences for not having laid out the last two pages of my current project well enough. It really came back to haunt me. Before I could get stuck with one page, I tried to tackle the next one which really helped. I had a lot more success there and thus only have to do the other one tomorrow. Except for slacking most of the day, I listened some more to the “Gnomon Workshop on visual storytelling and concept design” by Iain McCaig. He has a really soothing voice and is just right to listen to whilst working. Not as mesmerizing as Bob Ross but he shares some of the same phrases (e.g. “happy little accidents”).
Not much to look at today either. Some really quick sketches for the little Chernobyl project. Just trying if the placement of values that I was thinking about seems to work.
Other than that I’ve got some links for yer bumpin enjoyment. Laff. Professor Lobeck Rät – one of our rather strange professors here in Kassel talks about life, shit and everything else. If you understand German, then take a look at it. After that take a look at Pedro Perez versus Spike Jones battling each other with Mambo Jumbo Sound Orchestration (via Positive Ape Index). And if you still want to enjoy the workings of your laughing muscles hit “English Lesson” to see some unlucky guys in Asia trying to learn English. Getting beaten with a stick not fun, hearing “ten ten ten…” – definitely hilarious.
